14 years ago, Shandy and Stan got married. A courthouse wedding, without a grand celebration, but a blessed union nonetheless. Yesterday, Shandy and Stan renewed their vows in a very special ceremony. Several months ago, Shandy had shared with Nicole Campos, owner and event planner at The Bridal Bug http://www.thebridalbug.com , that Shandy's husband, Stan, was in poor health. Stan has a lung disease which limits the years of his life, and Shandy regretted that they had never had a real wedding celebration.
Touched by Shandy's story, Nicole asked multiple wedding vendors if they would donate time, products, and services to give Shandy her dream wedding. And so it came to be (read the news story here http://www.wsaw.com/home/headlines/Couple-Receives-a-Fairy-tale-Wedding-305161441.html).
From the moment I met Shandy at the Fashion Villa Salon and Spa, to their moving ceremony at Fern Island Park, through their reception at the Downtown Mission Church--I was welcomed by a family that had stayed together for better or worse, led by their parents, Stan and Shandy, who are still very much in love. I cannot name everyone who donated their time, services, or items to make this wedding happen--but just knowing that it came to be through the kindness of others lent a warm spirit to the day.
Congratulations Shandy and Stan, and may God bless you with happiness in your years together.
